This Privacy Policy explains how RTL Master ("RTL Master," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, stores, and otherwise processes personal information when merchants install or use the RTL Master Shopify application, visit our website, contact us, or otherwise use our services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Scope of This Privacy Policy

RTL Master provides localization and storefront tools for Shopify merchants, including RTL layouts, translations, language-related functionality, fonts, and related features.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information that we process in connection with those services.

It does not govern Shopify's independent processing of personal information. Shopify's processing is governed by Shopify's own privacy policies and agreements.

2. Our Role

Depending on the circumstances, RTL Master may process personal information in different capacities.

For information concerning our merchant users, accounts, billing relationships, support communications, security, and operation of our own business, RTL Master generally determines the purposes and means of processing.

Where RTL Master processes information contained in a merchant's Shopify store solely to provide the Service on that merchant's behalf, the merchant generally determines the purposes of that processing and RTL Master acts as a service provider or processor, as those concepts are defined under applicable privacy laws.

Merchants remain responsible for their own privacy notices and for ensuring that their use of RTL Master complies with laws applicable to their stores and customers.

3. Information We Collect

The information we process depends on how you use RTL Master, the features you enable, and the permissions made available through Shopify.

A. Information Received Through Shopify

When a merchant installs or uses RTL Master, Shopify may provide us with information necessary to identify the merchant's store, authenticate the application, provide requested functionality, and manage the merchant relationship.

This may include:

  • Shopify store name and domain;
  • shop or account identifiers;
  • store email and other merchant contact information made available by Shopify;
  • store language and locale information;
  • theme information and theme resources;
  • store configuration and localization information;
  • content or resources selected for translation;
  • application installation and authorization information; and
  • other information made available under the Shopify permissions granted to RTL Master and required for enabled features.

We seek to access only information reasonably necessary to provide the Service.

Shopify controls the permissions and data made available through its platform, and those permissions or technical capabilities may change.

B. Store Content and Translation Data

To provide translation and localization functionality, we may process content from your Shopify store.

Depending on the features you use, this may include:

  • product and collection text;
  • pages and blog content;
  • theme content and translatable theme strings;
  • navigation or interface text;
  • metafields or other translatable Shopify resources;
  • notification templates;
  • language and locale information;
  • translations generated using the Service;
  • translations entered or edited manually by you; and
  • translation preferences and configuration.

Some store content may contain personal information if you or your staff include personal information in that content.

You are responsible for determining what content you submit to or process through the Service.

C. Account and Merchant Information

When you communicate with us or use the Service, we may receive information such as:

  • your name;
  • email address;
  • business or store name;
  • Shopify store URL;
  • support correspondence;
  • technical information you provide when requesting support; and
  • information about your use and configuration of RTL Master.

We generally do not receive or store your full payment-card information because subscription billing is handled through Shopify's billing systems.

D. Technical and Usage Information

When you access RTL Master's application or website, our systems and service providers may automatically process technical information necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.

Depending on our configuration, this may include:

  • IP address;
  • browser and device information;
  • operating system;
  • timestamps;
  • application events;
  • error and diagnostic information;
  • security logs;
  • session information; and
  • interactions with pages or features.

We use this information primarily for service operation, security, debugging, analytics, and performance monitoring.

E. Merchant Customer Information

RTL Master is not designed primarily to collect information about individual customers merely because they visit a merchant's store.

However, depending on Shopify functionality, the features enabled by a merchant, and the store content being processed, information related to a merchant's customers may be processed if it is contained in a Shopify resource required for the Service.

Where we process such information on behalf of a merchant, we use it only as necessary to provide the Service, comply with applicable law, protect the Service, or as otherwise permitted under our agreement with the merchant.

We do not sell merchant customer personal information.

4. How We Use Information

We may process information to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, and secure RTL Master;
  • authenticate stores and users;
  • provide RTL and localization functionality;
  • retrieve, process, generate, save, or apply translations;
  • maintain translation and language settings;
  • implement storefront and theme configuration;
  • administer subscriptions and plan entitlements;
  • provide customer support;
  • investigate technical problems;
  • monitor service reliability and performance;
  • prevent abuse, fraud, security threats, or unauthorized activity;
  • improve existing features and develop new features;
  • communicate service-related information;
  • maintain business, accounting, and compliance records;
  • enforce our agreements;
  • comply with legal requirements; and
  • protect our rights and the rights of our users and others.

We do not use merchant customer data obtained through Shopify for unrelated advertising purposes.

5. Automated and Machine Translation Services

RTL Master may use automated or machine-translation technology to provide translation features.

When you request an automated translation, content necessary to perform that translation may be transmitted to technology or service providers that assist us in generating the translation.

Such providers are permitted to process the information only in accordance with our arrangements with them and as necessary to provide their services, subject to applicable law.

6. How We Share Information

We may disclose information to third parties only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Service Providers

We may use companies that provide services such as:

  • cloud hosting and infrastructure;
  • databases and data storage;
  • monitoring, logging, and error reporting;
  • email and communications;
  • customer support;
  • security;
  • analytics;
  • machine translation or language processing; and
  • professional services.

These providers may process information on our behalf as necessary to perform services for us.

Shopify

We interact with Shopify to operate the RTL Master application, authenticate installations, obtain authorized Shopify data, manage app functionality, and process subscriptions.

Shopify independently processes personal information in accordance with its own policies and agreements.

Legal and Safety Disclosures

We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or lawful governmental request;
  • protect the security or integrity of the Service;
  • investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
  • enforce our agreements; or
  • protect our rights, property, users, or others.

Business Transfers

If RTL Master or its operating business is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

7. We Do Not Sell Personal Information

RTL Master does not sell personal information obtained through the Service for monetary consideration.

We also do not use personal information obtained through Shopify to build profiles for unrelated third-party advertising.

If our practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any choices required by applicable law.

8. Legal Bases for Processing

Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, our legal basis for processing depends on the circumstances.

We may process personal information:

Performance of a Contract

When processing is necessary to provide RTL Master to a merchant, administer an account or subscription, provide requested support, or otherwise perform our agreement with you.

Legitimate Interests

Where necessary for legitimate interests such as:

  • securing the Service;
  • preventing abuse and fraud;
  • maintaining and improving our systems;
  • providing support;
  • understanding service performance;
  • protecting our legal rights; and
  • operating our business,

provided those interests are not overridden by applicable rights and interests of affected individuals.

Legal Obligations

Where processing is necessary to comply with laws, legal processes, accounting requirements, tax obligations, or other legal requirements.

Consent

Where applicable law requires consent for a particular activity, we may rely on consent. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent as permitted by law.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide the Service, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal, tax, accounting, or compliance obligations.

Following uninstallation or termination, we delete or anonymize store-specific data that is no longer required, subject to legitimate technical, legal, security, backup, and compliance requirements.

Information may be retained longer where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; investigate fraud or security incidents; comply with legal obligations; or respond to a lawful request.

10. Uninstallation and Shopify Privacy Requests

When a merchant uninstalls RTL Master, Shopify may notify us of the uninstallation and may subsequently send privacy-related requests requiring deletion or disclosure of applicable data.

RTL Master processes applicable Shopify privacy and compliance requests, including required customer data requests and deletion requests, in accordance with Shopify requirements and applicable law.

Uninstallation may not immediately remove all RTL Master-generated changes from a store where content, translations, theme code, settings, or other information has been written directly into Shopify or the merchant's theme.

Merchants remain responsible for reviewing their store following uninstallation.

11. International Data Transfers

RTL Master and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you or your customers are located.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers of personal information, we use legally recognized mechanisms as appropriate, which may include:

  • adequacy decisions;
  • contractual safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses; or
  • other lawful transfer mechanisms.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, destruction, or misuse.

Our security measures may include access controls, authentication, encryption where appropriate, system monitoring, restricted access, software maintenance, and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information processed.

However, no method of transmission, storage, or internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Data Minimization

We seek to limit the information we access and retain to what is reasonably necessary to provide and operate RTL Master.

The information available to RTL Master through Shopify depends in part on permissions, APIs, and platform functionality controlled by Shopify.

We may change or reduce the data we access as the Service and Shopify platform evolve.

14. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on applicable law, individuals may have rights concerning their personal information, including rights to:

  • request access to personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to certain processing;
  • request portability of certain information;

If your request relates to information that RTL Master processes solely on behalf of a Shopify merchant, we may direct your request to the relevant merchant or assist the merchant in responding.

15. Shopify Customer Privacy Requests

Because RTL Master is distributed through Shopify, privacy requests involving Shopify merchants or their customers may also be transmitted to us through Shopify's required privacy mechanisms.

We will respond to valid requests as required by Shopify's platform rules and applicable law.

16. Children

RTL Master is a business service intended for Shopify merchants and is not directed to children.

We do not knowingly solicit personal information directly from children for the purpose of providing RTL Master accounts.

17. Cookies and Website Technologies

Our website or application may use cookies or similar technologies that are reasonably necessary for authentication, security, preferences, operation, or analytics.

We do not claim to use behavioral advertising or cross-site advertising technologies unless we actually implement such technologies.

Where consent is required by applicable law for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will seek the required consent.

18. Marketing Communications

We may send merchants service-related communications necessary to operate RTL Master.

Where permitted by law, we may also send information about RTL Master products, features, or services.

You may opt out of promotional communications using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in those communications where applicable.

Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary transactional, security, billing, or service-related communications.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to:

  • the Service;
  • our data practices;
  • Shopify requirements;
  • our service providers;
  • applicable laws; or
  • operational or security practices.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date.
